TrenckTech is Dylan Trenck’s independent software practice. I build web applications, automation, AI, and computer vision systems for teams that need a senior engineer, not an agency, and not a template.

The premise

Good software is a
competitive advantage.
Most companies rent theirs.

Every business eventually hits the wall where the off-the-shelf tools stop fitting. The spreadsheet has forty tabs. Three systems hold the same data and disagree about it. Someone spends every Friday afternoon copying numbers between windows.

That's the point where custom software stops being a luxury and starts paying for itself. It's also the point where most owners get quoted six figures by an agency, or hire a freelancer who disappears halfway through.

I built this practice to be the third option: one senior engineer, a fixed price, and software you own outright at the end of it.

Automation

The work your team does by hand every week, done by software instead. Usually the fastest money a business ever saves.

I map the process first, find where the hours actually go, then automate the parts that are worth automating. Integrations between the tools you already pay for, scheduled jobs, document and data pipelines, and alerting that only reaches a human when it should.

AI & Machine Learning

Applied AI that solves a named problem, not a chatbot bolted on so the homepage can say it has one.

Retrieval systems over your own documents, agents that take real actions inside your stack, model integration and evaluation, and honest advice about where AI is the wrong tool. I have shipped ML systems in production, and I will tell you when a database query would beat a model.

Computer Vision & Data

Teaching software to see, measure, and make sense of the physical and unstructured world.

Detection, tracking, and classification pipelines, video and image analysis at scale, training data strategy and labeling workflows, and the data engineering underneath all of it. This is where my research background lives, and it is the work I take most personally.

  1. 01 Week 0 · Free

    Discovery

    A real conversation, not a sales call. We talk through what you are actually trying to change, what you have already tried, and what success would look like in numbers. You leave with a clearer view of your problem, whether or not you hire me.

  2. 02 Days 1–5

    Scope & Proposal

    I write down exactly what gets built, what it costs, and when it lands, in language you could hand to someone non-technical. Fixed scope, fixed price. No hourly meter running while I read documentation.

  3. 03 Weeks 1–8

    Build

    You get a working link from week one, and it never stops working. Progress happens in public, there is a standing weekly check-in, and no phase where you are left wondering what is happening. Scope changes are decisions we make together, not surprises on an invoice.
